Veriah Plasencia MD

Dr. Plasencia was born and raised in San Diego county but decided to go to Mexico for medical school. She graduated from Universidad de Montemorelos Escuela de Medicina, Mexico in of May 2017. Before starting residency, she conducted research at Loma Linda University including work on pediatric leukemia, a grant-funded program for Reach out and Read, and developing a childhood obesity program. She is passionate about advocating for and empowering underserved health disparity populations. What most caught her attention about UCSF Fresno was the opportunity to do just that, given that its population is predominantly underserved minorities. Her goal after graduating is to open a community clinic that promotes patient education and life style/behavioral interventions with a holistic approach to the wholeness of children/families taking into account their mental, physical, and spiritual health. Her hobbies include reading, bible studies, rock climbing, exercise, making crafts with kids, cooking, and sleeping. She also enjoys camping (with so many gorgeous places around Fresno!), swimming, and visiting family in So-Cal.
