Hobbies, facts and interests

I come from a family of psychologists and DIY enthusiasts and, like them, I have always wanted to better understand people, learn new things, and work on problems. In college, I developed an interest in working with people with disabilities and then left the US for the first time to live in Ireland, Ghana, India, China and Argentina studying the anthropology of birth defects. Afterward, I was the field coordinator for a WHO birth defects surveillance study in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and, in med school, I studied emergency medical care in Tanzania for a master’s in Global Health. Back in the US, I’ve expanded my focus on health inequities to include local communities through social emergency medicine, working on several projects in the Bay Area and now here in Fresno. In my free time, I love running and going on outdoor adventures with my daughter and husband.

Why Fresno?

– The patient volume, acuity, spectrum of pathology, and complexity of social situations allow for training that prepares residents here well for any future job in EM

– Kind, hard-working, thoughtful, down-to-earth co-residents, faculty, and staff who support each other and make it fun to come to work every day

– Close proximity to three national parks, great national forest, and easy weekend trips to SF and LA
