Hobbies, facts and interests

Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, I love myself a mean bowl of borsch with black tea and rye bread. I once lived a happy life in a farm house with 6 of my best friends and 12 chickens, working part time and traveling for months each year. Then I experienced a prolonged fugue state resulting in 4 years of med school. I’m better now. Since moving to California, I’ve met the double rainbow guy at a hot spring in the East Sierra, done some amazing climbs in the mountains that are our back yard, and collected a number of memorable items including giant Sugar pine cones and whale vertebrae. I hope to one day be referred to as cool Dr. D, so if anyone asks, that’s taken.

Why Fresno?

This Emergency Department is insane. Volume and acuity are unmatched by any other hospital I interviewed or rotated at. Pair that with down to earth attendings, incredible nurses and ancillary staff, and a group of residents who always have your back. Throw in mountain lakes and national parks right at your doorstep. Did I mention free food and coffee, cheap living without traffic, and a month off after intern year?
