Why This Program: I chose this program for the same reason I chose family medicine: to be a well-rounded physician helping underserved communities. Having grown up on a small farm and as the first person in my family to go to both college and medical school, I relate to the socio-economic barriers to healthcare access in the Central Valley. At UCSF-Fresno, I found a program that works with disadvantaged populations every day and has the broad-spectrum training to prepare me for any setting. As an NHSC scholar, I am so happy to be part of this program that has already guided my future plans. Added bonuses about Fresno are minimal traffic, low-cost of living, and lots of fresh produce.

Interests within Family Medicine: Underserved medicine, women’s health, office-based procedures, inpatient medicine

Hobbies and Interests:Hiking (we’re so close to THREE national parks), plants, reading, traveling, learning Spanish, podcasts
