Stephen Hurwitz, MD
Dr. Hurwitz is an Associate Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Community Regional Medical Center. A graduate of University of the Witswatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa), Dr. Hurwitz completed his psychiatry residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and Boston University School of Medicine, before completing a fellowship in psychopharmacology and consultation-liaison psychiatry at the New England Medical Center in Boston. Before joining UCSF, Dr. Hurwitz was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, where he received numerous teaching awards. He also served as director of C-L Psychiatry at both the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, and Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Hurwitz is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine.
