Farah Karipineni, MD
Farah Karipineni, MD is an Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery at the University of California San Francisco Fresno, UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research.
Dr. Karipineni received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine. She completed her internship and general surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Subsequently, she completed her Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Karipineni is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Karipineni has been a faculty member in the Department of Surgery since 2017. Her clinical and didactic teaching involves educating, lecturing, mentoring, and supervising medical students and residents that rotate on the endocrine service. Dr. Karipineni’s focus includes general and endocrine surgery.
Dr. Karipineni is a board member and the co-founder of Universal Unity Non-Profit Organization. She has dedicated many years to increasing diversity in the United States, and has worked with refugee populations in Sudan. She is fluent in Spanish and brings an understanding of hegemonic relations between cultures in the medical field.
In 2010, she received the Gold Humanism in Medicine Award from the UC Irvine School of Medicine. In 2016, she received the Schatz Award for Clinical Excellence, Professionalism, and Research.
Dr. Karipineni is a member of the American College of Surgeons and presently serves as an active member on several professional societies including the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons.
