Dr. David Sine obtained his BScN/RN and medical degree at McMaster University in Canada. He completed his Pediatric Residency at UCSD/Rady Children’s Hospital, and served as Chief Resident. Following residency he accepted a position as a teaching attending and Hospitalist at Rady Children’s Hospital.
He worked tirelessly from internship on with San Diego Hospice toward the development and partnership with Rady Children’s Hospital and UCSD.
He and his wife Kealani, also a pediatrician, moved to central California 21 years ago to raise their three daughters (Malia Kalei and Leiana) in a more rural setting. They were Hospitalists and then opened their own practice 4 years ago. David now works with his wife three days, and in a rural clinic for underserved/special needs children one day a week
He serves as the Medical Director for Palliative Care at Valley Children’s Hospital performing consultations and teaching the UCSF HPM fellows one day a week. He has been the Medical Director for Tulare Pediatric Hospice for over 10 years and Hinds Hospice for over a year.
His other interests outside of medicine include spending time with three very busy daughters, Brazilian Jujitsu, and relaxing time on the Coast
After reflecting on 22 years of working with children facing life threatening limiting illness Dr. Sine remarked, “I cannot affect the final outcome but will do everything I can do maximize quality of life and comfort.”
