Pediatric Critical Care

Welcome to the Pediatric Critical Care rotation!  During this rotation our focus is the identification, general evaluation and stabilization of the critically ill pediatric patients. You will be involved in clinical and educational activities primarily in our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), also in the Emergency Department, Burn and Pediatric Trauma Unit and the Pediatric Ward.

During this rotation you will be exposed to multiple medical and surgical conditions. The residents will the opportunity to review their pathophysiology and stablish appropriate discussions of diagnostics and therapeutic options. Also our team members are encourage to review other common and specific diseases not actively care in the unit during their rotation.

Patient care is always priority and 24-hour in-house attending are always available.

Also the Pediatric Critical Care Team is involve in the pediatric residency curriculum education including morning reports,  scheduled conferences, both programmed and surprise simulation exercises, and mentoring in multiple resident-guided activities.
