The UCSF Fresno Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program offers a four-year CODA-accredited program. The program matches four PGY-1 residents each year.

The UCSF Fresno Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program participates in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program carried out by National Matching Services.  All applications are handled through ADEA Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS).

Application Process

Send the following materials through PASS by September 1, 2022:

  • National Board Part I (by way of Dean’s Eval)
  • Dental school transcripts
  • Professional Evaluation Forms (PEF’S 2 – 4)
  • Dean’s Institution Evaluation
  • Undergraduate transcripts
  • CV/Resume

Send the following materials directly to UCSF Fresno by email or mail on or before September 1, 2022 :

  • Comprehensive Basic Sciences Exam results
  • Completed UCSF Fresno OMFS application form [PDF] [Word]
  • 2×2 inch color identification photo

After all materials are received, applicants will be contacted only if selected for an interview.


Program Requirements

  • All applicants are required to take the Comprehensive Basic Science Examination (CBSE) through the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
  • A California dental license and a valid DEA registration number are required by the start of the second year.
  • A research paper must be submitted for publication prior to graduation from the residency program.

Preferred qualifications include a current California dental license, active DEA number, and previous experience.

Minimum Employment Requirements
To be eligible for a residency/fellowship appointment contract with the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program, all current or expected trainees must possess one of the following for the duration of their  anticipated years of training:

  • be a United States citizen
  • be in possession of a green card
  • be in possession of an EAD (work permit)
  • possess an ECFMG –sponsored J-1 visa

UCSF Fresno doesn’t generally sponsor H-1B visas, please contact individual programs regarding their policy on H-1B visa sponsorship.
