Program Eligibility

Additional Programs.

Applicants who are either educationally or economically disadvantaged, and who express an interest in pursuing a health degree program are eligible for participation if selected into the JDA program.

Selection of JDA students is based on:
FUSD

  • Grade point average of 2.8 or better
  • Copy of their most recent report card
  • Personal Statement written by the student

CES

  • Grade point average of 2.8 or better
  • Copy of their most recent report card
  • Personal Statement written by the student
  • One letter of recommendation

Expectations of Junior Doctors Academy students:

  • Enroll in the Junior Doctor’s Academy class and/or AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination).
  • Commit to the program for the entire year.
  • Maintain a 2.8 grade point average (GPA).
  • Attend 75% of the extracurricular JDA activities offered.
  • Participate in study trips, workshops, service events, summer program, and activities that enhance student achievement.
  • Attend sessions and seek academic help from JDA teachers and tutors.

Expectations of Junior Doctors Academy parents:

  • Support student achievement and involvement in events and activities.
  • Be involved in student’s education and career planning.
  • Participate in events and activities for parents.
  • Complete required forms for student participation.
  • Communicate with students, teachers and program personnel in an exchange of ideas to enhance individual and program success.
