What residents are saying about UCSF Fresno?

“I did a rotation here as a fourth year medical student and was immediately struck by the emphasis on learning, the quality of the teaching, diverse pathology, and warm environment.  Training in Fresno gives us the opportunity to serve the people of the Central Valley while being just a few short hours from San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.  I had no doubt that I wanted to be at UCSF Fresno for my residency, and I couldn’t be happier to be here!”

“I learned of UCSF Fresno when I applied for a high school research program. Since then I had the dream of becoming a doctor and coming back to Fresno to work with the largely medically underserved population. During my interview, everyone was friendly, down to earth and genuine. The faculty and senior residents seem very committed to helping us succeed. I want to work in the community where I grew up and mentor students like me. The location of the program was also important as my wife’s and my family live in the area. Also, nothing is better than being a short drive, bus/train ride away from the rest of California!”

“Being from the Valley, UCSF was my top choice.  After doing two rotations here, I felt very comfortable with the facilities and found the directors/attendings/residents very cordial.  I knew I wanted to return to the Valley so I could treat the same population/demographic which I was so familiar with growing up in Porterville.”
