The end of the year is an ideal time to reflect on milestones. In 2017, UCSF Fresno accomplished many achievements and received gifts and honors – all aimed at improving health in the San Joaquin Valley. Here’s a look at some of our shining moments.
UCSF Fresno recently filled all available fellowship spots in the Match Day for the Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP). We are especially pleased that three of our current medical residents will continue their training at UCSF Fresno as fellows.
The Central Valley Community Foundation and Anthem Blue Cross recently awarded UCSF Fresno over $80,000. The funding provides scholarships for medical students at UCSF Fresno in the San Joaquin Valley Program in Medical Education.
Congratulations to faculty members at UCSF Fresno who were selected for the UCSF Center for Faculty Educators’ Teaching Scholars Program (TSP). Participation is by competitive application.
Many faculty at UCSF Fresno are the first in their families to earn four-year degrees. They know that encouragement and support are vital to the success of first-generation students.

UCSF Fresno recently graduated over 100 physicians to care for patients and teach the next generation. Jessica Mason, MD, a theater student turned emergency medicine doctor is among them. Dr. Mason completed a fellowship in emergency medicine education and is joining the faculty at UCSF Fresno. David and Marilyn Britz of Fresno provided a $250,000 gift to UCSF Fresno to be used for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of lung diseases.
