Applying to program:
PGY-1 positions are available on
a competitive basis in accordance with the National Resident Matching Program.
The UCSF Fresno Residency Program uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS, at www.aamc.org/eras) sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Requirements for application:
Interviews are by invitation only. Selections for PGY-1 are made by surgery faculty following invited personal interviews.
Additional Information for International Medical Graduates:
The University of California requires that all residents be citizens of the United States, be in possession of a green card, or possess an ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visa. Please refer to the UCSF School of Medicine instructions at: (http://www.medschool.ucsf.edu/gme/prospective/foreign)
The State of California requires that graduates of schools outside the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico posses credential evaluation from the Medical Board of California. The Medical Board will issue a "Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter" authorizing residency training in California. The letter is valid for entry into a training program for one year. The expected start date for residency training must be before the letter expires.
Applications are considered complete when all documents including the valid ECFMG and Medical Board of California "Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter" are posted on ERAS.
