APPLY/CONTACT

The UCSF Fresno Psychiatry Residency Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.  We accept applications only through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) and participate in the NRMP (National Residency Matching Program).  To be considered for residency training, applicants must submit complete applications by December 1st:  However, since the interview schedule fills very quickly, it is strongly recommended that applications be received by November 1st.  Documents that are required to be received with the application in order to be considered complete are:

  1. Personal Statement
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Dean’s Letter
  4. Medical School Transcript
  5. 3 Letters of Recommendation
  6. USMLE Transcript (no more than two attempts/passing scores)
  7. ECFMG Certificate (for International Graduates Only)
  8. Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter* (PTAL) (for International Graduates Only).  This letter is issued by the California Medical Board, authorizes residency training in California, and is valid for one year from the date of issue.  The expected start date for residency training must be before the letter expires.  Applications are not considered complete until a valid PTAL is received.

Additionally, the University of California requires that all residents be eligible to work in the United States.  Applicants must be US citizens, in possession of a green card or possess an ECFMG sponsored J-1 visa.  Our program does not sponsor any types of visas.
