Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California is an extremely busy Level I trauma
center in the “Central Valley” of California. The UCSF Fresno OMFS residency program which is
centered at Community Regional Medical Center, Fresno, is currently accepting applications for
clerkship/externship. Our program is a “full scope” residency training program and serves as an
academic tertiary care center for the OMFS profession. Residents gain a broad exposure to nearly
all areas of maxillofacial surgery including: facial trauma, head and neck pathology and microvascular
reconstruction along with usual areas of OMFS surgical endeavor. Externs will be
expected to function in the same capacity as a resident by attending daily rounds, daily clinic, oncall,
scrubbing into daily OR cases, and attending all conferences and seminars. The candidate
should be interested in pursuing a career in OMFS.

The externship is open to 3rd and 4th year dental students attending an accredited U.S. or
Canadian Dental School. Length of externship is 1 week mandatory, 2 weeks maximum. Please
provide the following:

1. Letter of intent with dates of proposed clerkship
2. Letter of recommendation from school faculty
3. Current copy of CV
4. 2×2 color photo
5. Current copy of grades
6. Current copy of BLS (CPR)
7. Proof of insurance liability
8. Hepatitis, MMR, current TB
