The UCSF Fresno Residency Program uses the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS, at http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm) sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Appointment is for one year. Renewal is based on satisfactory progress in medical knowledge, clinical and technical skills, and professional attitudes and behavior.


Additional Information for International Medical Graduates:
The University of California requires that all residents be citizens of the United States, be in possession of a green card, or possess an ECFMG-sponsored J-1 visa.

The State of California also requires that graduates of schools outside the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico submit documentation to the Medical Board of California. The Medical Board will issue a "Professional Training Authorization Letter" (PTAL) authorizing residency training in California. Applications are not considered to be complete and the applicant will not be ranked until a valid letter is received.
