UCSF Fresno Names New Program Manager for Alzheimer’s Research
Center
The UCSF Fresno Alzheimer's Research Center (ARC) has appointed Joy A. Grado
as program manager. Prior to joining ARC, Grado worked for the Marjaree
Mason Center as the director of program development, quality assurance and
grants.
“We are thrilled to have Joy join our team,” said Alex Sherriffs, MD,
associate clinical professor of UCSF Fresno and medical director and
principal investigator for ARC. “Joy is very sensitive to issues involving
Alzheimer’s and dementia-related illness and will make a wonderful
contribution to the success of our program.”
Overall, Grado combines more than 20 years experience in the field of
gerontology and health care administration, including 10 years with
Community Medical Centers.
“I look forward to working closely with our multi-disciplinary team
dedicated to improving the quality of life for Alzheimer's patients, their
families, and caregivers,” said Grado. ARC works to improve a patient’s
quality of life by diagnosing Alzheimer's and other types of dementias,
providing resources, referrals, treatment-management plans, support groups
and health professional education and family educational services.
Additionally, ARC is involved in four research studies in the areas of
depression in Alzheimer's disease, frontal temporal dementias, genetics, and
intimacy.
