Andrew Alvarado, EdD, Associate Adjunct Professor, UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine
Dr Andrew Alvarado oversees San Joaquin Valley Latino community health research-related activities and training of Latino faculty researchers. Dr Alvarado is also a professor emeritus in the Department of Social Work Education at California State University Fresno (CSUF), and has been a faculty member there since 1973. He has held numerous research and leadership positions, including director of the Central California Center for Health and Human Services Research, Training and Evaluation within the School of Health and Human Services at CSUF; interim research coordinator and consultant at LaCMER; and senior research associate for the Center for Agricultural Business at the California Agriculture Technology Institute within the College of Agriculture at CSUF. Dr Alvarado is an advocate and researcher of farm worker and other underrepresented, health and safety, and has contributed to numerous studies and publications on these subjects. Currently, he is a co-investigator for the evaluation of the Central Valley Nursing Diversity Initiative, and a co-principal investigator for a project assessing vehicular safety in rural California.
