In 2004, six UCSF Fresno residents were selected to present case presentations or research projects at the annual ACP Associate competition held in San Diego, California, October 22-24, 2004. Below are the images taken from the competition of the residents and their presentations.
Shamsuddin Alamgir (PG3) presented a poster reporting the results of his study of the prognostic value of hypoglycemia in E. coli sepsis.  The study is entitled "Hypoglycemia at the Onset of E. coli Sepsis".  This presentation was selected as the first runner up for best research abstract for Northern California 
Vipul Jain (PG3) presented a study of the practice of residents from different disciplines in performing testicular exams on men and the frequency with which the exams are completed in the community.  The title of the poster was "Testicular Cancer Screening: Practice Patterns of Primary Care Residents and Physicians".
Peter Boehringer (PG3) presented a retrospective study of VA patients with chronic hepatitis C entitled "Chronic Hepatitis C Infection and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma: Is there an Association?".
Usman Javed (PG2) presented a case of Cryptococcal brain abscesses in an immunocompetent adult entitled "Disseminated Cryptococcus: A Prodigious Beguiler".
Dhara McDermed (PG1)
presented a case of ITP in a patient with small lymphocytic lymphoma.
Jayareena Mahalingham (PG3) presented a research study investigating the attitudes and behaviors of residents toward influenza vaccination for themselves.
