In 2003,
four UCSF
Fresno residents were selected to present four case presentations for
the annual ACP Associate competition held in Monterey, California,
October 31 - November 2, 2003. Below are the images taken from the competition
of the residents and their presentations.
Jim Phanucharas
(PG3) presented a poster reporting the results of his study on
the impact of different call schedules on physiological sleep
deprivation among medicine residents. The study is entitled
"Medical Resident Fatigue with Traditional and Night-Float
Call".
Vipul Jain
(PG2) presented a case of reactive Histoplasmosis after
treatment with anti-TNF antibodies. This case represents the
clearest example that Histoplasmosis can be reactivated with
immunosuppression.
Peter Boehringer
(PG2) presented a poster reporting a patient who presented four
times with recurrent bacterial meningitis but with negative CSF
cultures.
Jasdeep Bal
(PG4) presented a case of a patient who developed lichen planus
after treatment for hepatitis C. This case demonstrates that
not only can lichen planus develop as part of hepatitis C but
also as a complication of treatment.
