Welcome to the UCSF Fresno Hospitalist Fellowship. The "hospitalist" model of care was first described in 1996 and is now the fastest growing specialty in internal medicine with demand far exceeding supply. The management of increasingly complicated inpatients becomes more challenging every year  and the integration of information technology, evidence-based medicine and quality of care initiatives within the hospital system is a mandate for all inpatient physicians. Keeping pace with this rapidly changing milieu of healthcare delivery in internal medicine emphasizes the need for more hospitalist training opportunities nationwide.

The UCSF Fresno program is designed to train the hospitalist of the 21st century, providing experiences in total quality management, evidence-based clinical pathways, resident education, as well as opportunities to sharpen your procedural skills and clinical acumen. Our mission is the development of inpatient experts to enter and lead the fastest growing segment of physician specialties. This one year fellowship promotes the knowledge and skills required to excel as hospitalist leaders, clinicians and medical educators.

We accept two (2) fellows each year beginning in July. This is a non-ACGME accredited fellowship program, similar to other hospitalist fellowships in the U.S.

We are currently accepting appliations for the 2010-11 academic year.
