Biography

 

After time in the service that included the Korean Conflict, Dr. Peters had experience in Guided Missile Engineering and Personnel and Systems analysis before entering medical school. He finished his training with a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at UCLA-Wadsworth hospitals in Los Angeles, becoming board certified in both by 1973. He joined the staff that was to become UCSF Fresno as Chief of Gastroenterology in 1965 and continued until 1990 when he became director of the Gastroenterologic consultation and teaching service until 2003. In the early part of his career, he served as developer of the Renal Service, Director of a Gastroenterology fellowship that graduated eight, and for his entire career directed Continuing Medical Education activities for UCSF Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley. He continues as a volunteer, attending in the clinics and other areas as requested. His research interest was Familial Mediterranean Fever and Urinary Amylase in the diagnosis of Pancreatitis.
