Personal Statement:

Having graduated from medical school in the 1970's, I spent several years moving about in different medical specialities. I finally decided to concentrate on Pulmonary diseases as I found it both interesting and challenging, and it still allowed me to practice some internal medicine. My interests include Asthma/COPD, the still somewhat underrecognised dangers of smoking, and the evaluation of Dyspnea. Pulmonary diseases involve not just the lung, but also involves the Cardiovascular system, infectious diseases and Critical care. I have had the opportunity to study and teach aspects of medicine that would not be available to me had I not specialized in Pulmonary diseases. I am glad I spent time before I finally decided what interested me most.
