| About Me: I have spent most of my life in central California, growing up in the Sierra Nevada foothills. However, I have also been fortunate enough to have lived in Manhattan, Philadelphia, London and Paris. I have a great interest in cardiology and will be applying for fellowship in 2011. I eventually would like to specialize in preventative cardiology or advanced heart failure and transplant. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family, playing guitar, video games and oil painting. I am looking forward to serving as a chief resident for the 2011/2012 academic year. | About Me: I like the outdoors, but will tolerate the indoors if it means getting to learn in a cool place like UCSF Fresno! | About Me: For me medicine is a second career after spending 12 years as a paramedic working on ambulances, in emergency rooms, and at the fire department. I am a work hard play hard kind of person. With both the Sierra-Nevada mountains & Pacific ocean near-by, Fresno is a perfect location for me to continue to pursue my interests outside of medicine. When not working I enjoy travel, reading, cycling, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and fly-fishing. I have climbed multiple mountain peaks over 14,000 feet and have completed both an ironman distance triathlon and marathons. I have been happily married for 13 years to my college sweet heart and together we continue to explore and enjoy all that California has to offer |
| Why UCSF Fresno? I really feel strongly that UCSF Fresno provides a unique opportunity to learn in a setting that has the strengths of both a community and academic program. There are numerous opportunities for research, exposure to subspecialties, fellowship opportunities and access to cutting edge technology all in a nearly unopposed setting that stresses the importance of education over service. Also the Central Valley offers amazing opportunities for outdoor recreational pursuits; whether it be climbing Half Dome in Yosemite or waterskiing on Shaver Lake there is always something to do. | Why UCSF Fresno? Top notch academics, abounding fellowship opportunities, surrounded by national parks/beaches (though they are about 1.5 hours away), a program that cares about residents, and great peers. | Why UCSF Fresno? I was lucky enough to rotate here as a medical student and was very impressed with the faculty which was very friendly, helpful, and interested in teaching. I was also impressed with the pathology we see here in Fresno. You only get to be a resident for three years and after that time you are expected to know quite a bit and have experience treating a large variety of diseases. I thought UCSF Fresno would offer me the opportunity to learn and gain that valuable experience I was looking for. So far I have not been disappointed! |

| Why UCSF Fresno? It’s a big family, great academic institution where you can combine the best clinical training with great research opportunities. Here your education is the priority of the faculty, senior residents and chief residents. Fresno is a great city located just few miles away from Yosemite Valley, Mount Whitney, Sequoias, San Francisco and LA. Overall it is the best experience in my life! | Why UCSF Fresno? The UCSF Fresno Residency has a friendly environment and an emphasis on learning. It is also a growing program with many opportunities for research, fellowships, and training abroad. Fresno's central location allows easy access to many of California's notable attractions ie: yosemite, beaches, and cities like LA and SF. | Why UCSF Fresno? Location, close to home but far enough away to separate me from distractions (family). Love the family environment as well as the diverse and interesting pathology seen in our patient population. |
