LATINO VISITING PROFESSOR LECTURE SERIES

The Latino Center for Medical Education and Research goal of the Latino Visiting Professor Series is to:

Disseminate current information about health issues of special significance to the Latino population to a variety of clinicians and researchers who serve Latino populations.
Utilize the relatively small numbers of Latino medical researchers, policy makers and teachers to encourage and inspire Latino students, residents and faculty to emulate them by pursuing careers in medicine and health research.
Encourage linkages and collegial efforts among widely dispersed individuals and agencies, which have shared interests in Latino health issues.
Disseminate demographic and epidemiological information that provides the basis for research into the relevant characteristics of the Latino population and its representation in mortality/morbidity statistics; the impact of crime, violence, poverty and other sociological factors relating to health; and the representation of Latinos in the health professions.
