Air Pollution & Climate Change Symposium

You are invited to participate in the 3rd annual Air Pollution and Climate Change Symposium at UCSF Fresno. Organized by the Department of Internal Medicine at UCSF Fresno, the conference will present the following themes:

• State of air in California’s Central Valley
• Air pollution and its effects on obstructive airway diseases
• Climate change and its effect on air pollution
• Mid- and long-term solutions to combat climate change and air pollution.

In keeping with our mission to have a meaningful impact on the direction of medicine in the Central Valley, the goal of our conference is to provide clinical updates in air pollution and climate change to physicians, surgeons, mid-level providers and nurses in the Central Valley.

This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.

COURSE OBJECTIVES 

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1) Understand how climate change is affecting forest fires in the U.S. and its impact on patients’ health and use that knowledge in practice.
2) Learn about health effects of forest fires and the impact on patients’ health.
3) Identify the effects of air pollution on lungs and other organ systems to more proficiently diagnose/manage patients.
4) Learn about the impact of climate change on heat-related illness to better manage patient care.
5) Understand the evidence for climate change, learn through satellite images and use knowledge to improve care.

REGISTRATION IS OVER 
The registration fee is $50.  Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is recommended, as seating is limited to 200 guests.

Registration fee includes conference participation and meals during the conference.
